Cognitive Privacy is the right to mental self-determination, the freedom to think, wonder, question, struggle, and form ideas without those processes being observed, recorded, or manipulated by external systems.

Cognitive Security is the defense of mental processes against external manipulation, degradation, and unauthorized influence. It focuses on maintaining the integrity of independent judgment in high-stakes decision-making.

DIRECTOR, THE COGNITIVE PRIVACY PROJECT

The Cognitive Privacy Project is a research and policy initiative directed by Timothy Cook, M.Ed.: researcher, author of Built to Think (MIT Press, 2027), and writer of "The Algorithmic Mind" at Psychology Today, a column reaching 400,000 readers. The project works with institutions on research collaboration and advisory engagements, including the Council on Strategic Risks, X Reality Safety Intelligence (XRSI), and Takeda. He is a founding member of the AI OpSec team at the Coaching Ethics Forum. The developmental register of this work lives at Connected Classroom, where Cook researches the effects of AI on childhood cognitive development.
